You''d think that a plot line that starts out focused on dominant women wouldn''''t mesh well with the sappy message "don''t be afraid to love." That kind of self-help book sentiment isn''''t usually espoused in a movie thick with deviant, power-play sex. Much to my surprise, Hungry Heart director/writer Rick Blaine handles the odd mix with an admirable deftness. Even more startling is how this flick has that sentimental message and is still packed with pants-scorchingly hot sex. This is a movie worth seeing.

Word of warning, the theme here is female domination. So, if you''''re squeamish about women using and abusing their boys, you may want to shut your eyes through a few scenes.

The plot revolves around Marquessa, played by Shanna. Seems she''s a top dominant for hire, bringing tough-love to couples who drop by for sessions. Nici Sterling plays Marquessa''s assistant, and we meet her when she leads Alex Sanders and Sid Deuce (playing husband and wife) into the dungeon. Marquessa shows up to find the blonde and bouncy Sid strapped to a table and Alex tied up nearby. He only gets to watch while Shanna fucks his wife. And fuck her she does. Shanna has learned a lot during her years in porn, and she unleashes a professional tongue on Sid. It moves on to a doggy-style, strap-on pounding with spanks and fantastic dirty talk. The attitudes are well acted, you''ll never doubt that Shanna is a tough dom. Plus, Ms. McCullough is a hot number, with solid curves and a tight body for a woman who''''s been in the business for so long.

She winds things up by pounding into Sid missionary style, all the time taunting the helpless Alex. Sid writhes to orgasm and Shanna kicks them out.

Some plot intrudes as Shanna, sunning herself, is rude to the pool boy and then flashes-back to how she caught her husband cheating.

We get to watch her tragedy unfold as Mickey (playing Shanna''s husband) lies on a bed with a leash around his neck as Missy squats on his face and tugs the leash, forcing him to eat her out. Missy plays the dominant very well, taking delight in whapping at Mickey''''s legs and balls with a flogger and grinding into his tongue. She''''s also got the dirty talk going smoothly, power-tripping as she gets pleasured. She gets him to fuck her doggy style, yanking the leash for emphasis and showing off her fine ass. The action is again enhanced by the fem-dom-play, Missy taking total control of the action. In fact, she takes even more control when she slips into a strap-on and cornholing Mickey doggy style. It''s a pretty picture with Missy''s frame humping like crazy as Mickey growls and bucks.

To end it, Missy sucks him to climax just in time for Shanna, who''''s seen the whole thing, to bust in with a gun and chase them out. She considers suicide but apparently decides to become a professional dominant instead.

After two segments of deviant sex, we get to see some "wholesome" fucking. Alex and Sid are back, but in a large tub. Alex does some fine tongue work on Sid''s snatch and we get the best views in the house, due to some good camera work. Problem is, the horrid light-rock music is the only sound. We don''t get to hear the moans and cries that Sid seems to be making. It''s a disappointment, but you''re watching this muted in the dead of night so the wife won''t wake up anyway, so it shouldn''t matter, right? Sid takes a turn with the oral, blowing him with nice tongue teases before the full on sex. It just doesn''''t get very steamy with no vocals. Still, it may settle you down after the first two segments.

After a bit of melancholy self-examination, Shanna secretly watches Nici and Wilde Oscar make British love. This is also a rather straight-up scene, but it has an undeniable heat. Nici is a looker and Wilde, not the top specimen of manhood, has enough attitude to carry it off. They neck on the couch for a bit before she starts gobbling his cock. It''s a nice position since Wilde takes the opportunity to finger Nici''s snatch as she sucks, and the camera shows it all. The missionary action starts off questionably since it seems to focus on Wilde''''s hairy ass. It gets better, though, and leads to a fast, driving doggy style that''s a good time. She sets the stage very well (was it mentioned that Shanna is a very convincing dom?) and has Tom eat out Lovette''s mound (what a terrible punishment). After a bit of uninteresting fucking we get to the best action. Tom wrecks Lovette''s ass doggy style. The views are great, we see the full insertion, and Lovette is a twitching live-wire as Tom stuffs her chute with cock. She laps up his load and Shanna sends them packing.

Back to the pool and Nici, trying to loosen up her boss, contrives to have the pool guy rub lotion on Shanna. Shanna melts a bit when Mark turns out to be an OK guy. He relates the story of finding his wife in a threesome.

Which is what we see. Suzi Suzuki is impaled at either end by Rick and David and she''s more than willing. The three of them move onto the pool table (apparently the pool guy is doing well enough to own a pool table) for more fuck and suck. Suzi''s a good looking woman, the only natural breasts in the flick, and she''s not at all shy. The point of the scene, though, is the D.P. that ensues. It''s a short piece, but not bad. Suzi rides the cocks without a hitch, and they all spurt on her ass. In the end, only the pool guy feels bad.

So, now the warm fuzzies take over and Shanna and Mark forge a meaningful relationship by showering together. Mainly it''''s just kissing and fondles under the streams, but they move to the bed for the harder stuff. Mark goes down on her and does a fine job. Shanna is a pleasure to watch as she squirms and moans under his attention. However, that goddamn sappy light-rock music is overpowering. The director is trying to make sure you understand that they''''re in the middle of Something Special. Strangely enough, I was already convinced. The actors did a good enough job and the plot was developed well. I got it. So, the music is a hammer just pounding out the obvious.

Anyway, Shanna blows him (which doesn''''t seem to be her strongest skill) and then rides him (which is a strong skill), showing off her sexy taut body and long hair. The doggy style is all right, but let''''s mention that Mark Davis is a sweaty mother-fucker. He literally streams sweat onto Shanna, and it doesn''''t really help the "romantic" mood. The spurting stream of cum bathing Shanna''''s face at the end also seems incongruous with a romantic evening, but what the hell, it was a good movie.

OVERALL: Sarcasm aside, Hungry Heart is a fine piece of work. It has its sappy moments, but it''s balanced very well. Blaine did a good job of bringing nasty, trash-talk fucking into a love story. He made it believable and he had surprisingly solid characters. The actors all played well, keeping the conversation natural and the sex hot. And man, that sex was hot for most of the film. Any feature fan needs to own this disc.

EXTRAS: There were tiny bios for the women which included a feature that let you jump to their sex scene in the movie, nice work. The slide show was shots from the movie, average stuff. There was a chapter search and some company info. The jewel, though, was the previews section. There were previews for 11 films and the interaction in each was great. Not a bad job on quality, but the quantity of extras wasn''t top shelf.
